Titan Gutter Guards installs non-combustible aluminium and steel ember guard systems meeting Australian Standard AS3959. Our systems carry a flammability index of 0 — they will not ignite or melt under ember attack.
Why Gutters Are a Bushfire Risk
During a bushfire, burning embers travel kilometres ahead of the fire front. These embers land in gutters filled with dry debris and ignite — often before the fire itself reaches the property. This is how many homes are lost.
A properly fitted non-combustible gutter guard eliminates this risk by keeping gutters clear of ember-catching debris and providing a non-combustible barrier that embers cannot penetrate.
Understanding BAL Ratings
Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) ratings describe the level of ember and flame attack risk for a property. Higher ratings require more stringent protection — including specific requirements for gutter guards.
BAL-12.5
Low attack level. Non-combustible gutter guard recommended. Our 2mm aluminium mesh meets this requirement.
BAL-19
Medium attack level. Non-combustible ember guard required. Our AS3959 compliant 2mm mesh meets this standard.
BAL-29
High attack level. Ember guard with maximum 2mm aperture required. We install fully compliant systems for BAL-29 properties.
BAL-40
Very high attack level. Stringent ember guard requirements apply. We assess each BAL-40 property individually.
BAL-FZ
Highest risk (Flame Zone). Specific structural requirements apply. We advise on appropriate protection for FZ-rated properties.
